Delta sent me the above letter saying that if I don’t do something – SOON – they are going to convert one of my Delta eGift cards to abandoned/unclaimed property. Let’s dive into why this post is not only worthy, but possibly even RANT-worthy! 😉
Unclaimed Property Due Diligence Letter
For many, many years, you’ve been able to purchase Delta eGift cards as a way to redeem your Amex Platinum (Consumer & Business) or Consumer Amex Gold Annual Travel Credit as a Delta flyer. Not only is it over, but we’ve had several reports that even Amex takes credit if you’ve done it quickly even with closed accounts. This really stinks because many elites don’t have a good way to burn those loans any more and especially during the time of COVID-19.
Unclaimed Property: Rethinking The State’s Lost & Found Program
I recently posted about how easy it was to check out points on multiple Delta gift cards at once on Delta.com. But Delta’s “crack” group of IT engineers around the world have been this useful page on Delta.dumb (yeah, they stole the last flight search page, so now you’re better off starting at a site other than Delta.com to find flights). Now you need to continue “Add + Gift Card” one by one.
I’ve been complaining for a long time about how Delta doesn’t do much to track Delta eGift card purchases. You can’t enter it in your “My Delta” and you have to keep track of the code and pin (you can’t change the pin btw). Also, you can do this simple report “To the Board” if you want (oh, that would be a good thing Delta – get the IT guys to work on this, please!).
The only good thing that has happened recently is that I wrote about this time last year that you could use an unlimited number of Delta gift cards to buy one ticket. Yes, you have to call, and due to the current situation with COVID-19, it may take a very long time to get a name. Ah.
Why does Delta send emails? I guess they have to legally. Obviously, as mentioned above, they are not trying to do anything good to help us track, and so this is the last step before they are taken off the books.

Do you have one of these letters? Are you as angry as I am that Delta isn’t very helpful when it comes to tracking down Delta gift cards? – Rene

Unclaimed Owner’s Audit The process of issuing unclaimed property or Escheat seems to be a hot topic of discussion every year. Every year we find more and more clients who have never heard of unclaimed property or do not know that this problem affects them or the company they work for. What we want to do is provide you with basic information that you can refer back to to see how you can take the right steps when it comes to paying off your mortgage. There are a couple of words that I think are important to understand, but they are actually a way to send the owner peace of mind. When you hear the term Unclaimed Property, it refers to the income of the owner and for some reason the owner never saves money. The owner is still around, but you can’t see him. The terms Unclaimed Property/escheat are used interchangeably.
Assets are intangible assets whose actions are performed by the owner and which terminates the ownership. The property remains owned for a period of time. Be really scared, but here’s what you need to know. The 4 main characteristics of claimed property are as follows: Property is intangible property – something that may not be tangible, but property that can be transferred to another person (bad checks, customer balances, undisclosed stock certificates, precious stones. , customer deposits) any Deed that binds the owner to the property has been completed (if the time to sleep has arrived and the owner does not appear at that time, it will become unclaimed property if you, as the company responsible for receiving payment from the owner, is required to use due diligence to pay the owner at the appropriate time
Do you have any of the following? Breached Checks on Vendors or Payroll Checks Oil and Gas (Income) Credit Accounts Receivable are suspended. Check with your CPA or attorney to be sure. Now, you may be saying that the issue of undisclosed assets does not concern you – or you may not, as you sit here in our meeting today! But every company should ask these questions. Does your company sell cash or paychecks? What if the income check is sitting in a Payables account? And of course no one has an Accounts Receivable balance of credit… Of course not… Last week in my billing class, we were talking about catch codes. I often say unclaimed property – because remember, I always see people who don’t know this state law! As we discussed it, one of the participants started asking questions about the report he found. He began to open merchant accounts and found that there were merchant checks in question. Things like this happen often! Now the company will need to do some research to find out
